
Opportunities in Sustainable Chemistry in Japan
A Dutch trade delegation consisting of companies and knowledge institutions—accompanied by senior officials from the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (KGG) and Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W)—will travel to Japan from September 17 to 26, 2025 for the Economic Mission on Energy & Circular Economy. The mission is organized by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), in collaboration with various ministries and network partners.
Opportunities in Hydrogen, Offshore Wind & Circular Construction in Japan
Japan is heavily investing in sustainable energy and innovation. With ambitious goals in the fields of hydrogen, offshore wind energy, and circular construction, the country offers unique opportunities for Dutch companies with sustainable solutions.
Key focus areas include:
• Green hydrogen production, storage, and distribution
• Infrastructure and floating technologies for offshore wind
• Circular design and construction using reusable or bio-based materials
• Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) for sustainable energy storage and reuse
• This mission provides the opportunity to explore the Japanese market and connect directly with relevant companies, local stakeholders, and knowledge institutions.
Who should join?
The mission is open to Dutch companies (startups, scale-ups, SMEs) and knowledge institutions active in: --Renewable hydrogen & ammonia

Each sector has its own tailored program with specific start and end dates:

Program & Expo 2025 Osaka
TThe mission includes matchmaking sessions, company visits, and networking events. All participants will also visit the Dutch Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka during the theme week “The Future of Earth and Biodiversity.” A unique opportunity to showcase Dutch innovations on a global stage.
